Called many things, the advent of fueling motor vehicles using a tank truck or trailer is motivated by the high cost and regulations of maintaining a fueling island. The problem is keeping track of the amount of fuel that goes into each vehicle. Done manually, the process of tracking per vehicle fuel amounts is time consuming and error prone.

Problem solved with the MID:COM ComLink RF Vehicle Identification System. The system consists of the Mid:Com 8000 computer with the ComLink radio frequency receiver and roll printer attached to the 8000 computer mounted in the cab of the fuel tanker. On the vehicle to be fueled, a small stainless steel button is attached close to the fuel tank. Each button is programmed with the vehicle ID and fuel type. To fuel a vehicle, the button is touched using a battery powered wand that readsthe information on the button and transmits it to the computer authorizing the fueling.

Each tank is fueled in the same manner, going down the line of vehicles. The signal can be transmitted hundreds of feet from the receiver. Vehicle fueling information is stored on a Secure Digital (SD) card and printed simultaneously on an optional roll printer. The data can then be converted to an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file for upload to a host system.
